Check whether an e-way bill may be required for goods movement based on consignment value, state movement, transport mode, GST document type and reason for dispatch.
Checking e-way bill requirement helps before moving goods. But growing businesses also need delivery challans, GST invoices, stock movement tracking, van loading, proof of delivery, payment collection and field sales visibility. SalesOn connects dispatch, billing, inventory, delivery and reports in one platform.
An e-way bill (Electronic Way Bill) is a document required under GST for movement of goods in India above a specified consignment value. It must be generated on the e-way bill portal before goods leave the origin location.
An e-way bill is generally required when the consignment value exceeds ₹50,000. This applies to all movement of taxable goods — whether for sale, stock transfer, job work, van loading, purchase return or delivery before invoice.
To generate an e-way bill you need: supplier and recipient GSTIN, document number (invoice / challan), HSN code, consignment value, vehicle number, transporter ID, and from/to locations.
A delivery challan is the dispatch document for goods movement without a sale (van loading, job work, stock transfer). A GST invoice records the sale. An e-way bill is the transit permit required for both when value exceeds ₹50,000.
Stock transfer and van loading require a delivery challan as the base document. If the consignment value exceeds ₹50,000, an e-way bill is also required — even though no sale has occurred. Some states have different rules.
When goods are sent to a job worker for processing, an e-way bill is typically required if the value exceeds ₹50,000. Special exemptions apply for small job work under certain conditions — verify with your accountant.
Fill in the consignment value, from/to states, reason for movement and document type. The tool applies common GST rules and gives an instant indication of whether an e-way bill may be required — along with suggested next steps.
When your business dispatches daily — with van loading, delivery challans, GST billing, stock tracking and payment collection — manual e-way bill checking becomes a bottleneck. SalesOn connects all of this in one platform built for Indian distributors.
